Hi,

I have the possiblility of a 3 day a week temp contract till Christmas and perhaps longer. I am going to discuss details next week and wanted some clarification so I know where I stand.  I think they will be giving everything I am entitled to but just want to be sure. If I work 3 days am I entitled within those 3 days to PPA time?  I think it should be 10% of 3 days.  What is the position re training/inset days if they are not on the days I am contracted to work?

Thank you.  Very Happy

Some schools will give you the PPA allocation within the 3 days, others will see if they can give it to you by effectively employing you on slightly more than a 0.6 (i.e. 3 day a week) contract and you have you PPA on one of the other 2 days when you don't 'work'.

Normally if you're not contracted to work on INSET days then you shouldn't unless they pay you extra - you could in theory have another job on those days anyway.

Thanks Trinity.

I was thinking in particular about the training day on the Monday before school starts.  My days will be Weds, Thurs and Fri but as it is a new school it might be handy to be there and to chat with my jobshare. I suppose I can see if they offer to pay me for it.

Where we have part-timers or people doing the equivalent of job share we pay them (if they want to) to come in on the 1st INSET day, especially if they are new staff and don't know the school.
