My home freezing is going really well. Mr madax and I are both enjoying our dinners and I always have a tasty lunch. I made another 25 meals yesterday after defrosting the freezer. I tend to have meal with a small jacket spud at lunch. In the evening mr madax has a meal with some frozen mash and I have the meal with veggies. To add a bit of variety I was wondering if it's possible to cook up batches of brown rice and freeze them? If so, how would you re-heat? Thanks in advance. _________________ No more targets - I'm turning into a nutter! |

I freeze rice, though some people don't recommend it. I freeze almost everything really.... Main rule is to only freeze once in each state - so once you've cooked it, let it cool to room temp and freeze straight away. Defrost and reheat and eat or bin. For rice, I freeze it in a microwavable container and then defrost in the microwave. I find the easiest way to cook it then is to mix it with the meal and heat thoroughly together. _________________ Waheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... house! |

Thanks RB. That sounds perfect for me. Mr madax doesn't eat rice but it'll make a nice change for my lunch.

| It's uncooked rice that can contain food poisoning bacteria which aren't necessarily killed by cooking. The longer cooked rice is left standing at room temperature the more the bacteria can multiply so if you're going to freeze cooked rice it's important to cool it as quickly as possible. When you reheat it must be piping hot. |
